PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Our Project Managers are here to bring clarity, structure, and support to every Communications project. The goal is to empower ministries by helping them meet deadlines, stay organized, and deliver with excellence.

How We Stay Aligned

We use Wrike to manage all Communications requests. This tool helps us:

  • Track design and production hours
  • Prioritize based on scope and deadlines
  • Improve service through better organization and workflow

To help us serve you best, each collateral item should have its own Wrike request. This lets us accurately measure workload, assign resources, and refine our process over time. We also welcome your feedback as it helps us keep this system smooth and effective!

Collaboration and Resolution

We aim to resolve challenges directly with our ministry partners—quickly, respectfully, and together. By handling issues at the team level whenever possible, we keep momentum strong and protect the time of our Executive Leadership for the highest-level needs.

We’re in your corner. When we partner, communicate openly, and stay aligned, we can produce the most impactful results together.

New to Wrike? No worries—we’re here to help from start to finish!

COLLATERAL

Printed materials play a key role in how we communicate at Discovery. From invite cards and table toppers to signage and booklets, each item should serve a clear purpose and reflect our brand with excellence. We approach print thoughtfully—considering audience, timing, and environment—so every piece supports the message and moment it was created for.

In-House

To maintain quality and efficiency, most printed collateral is produced in-house. We prioritize requests based on impact, timeline, and how well they support church-wide initiatives. If your ministry needs printed materials, we’ll work with you to determine the best format and make sure it aligns with our overall communication strategy.

Outsourcing

With years of experience and trusted vendor relationships, our team knows how to secure the best quality, pricing, and turnaround times. We manage the outsourcing process on behalf of ministries to:

Recommend the right vendors for your needs

Align designs with Discovery’s brand standards

Handle logistics, timelines, and pricing

Support your ministry goals with the right final product

To keep things consistent and efficient, all outsourced projects should go through the Communications Department. We’ll guide the process so you don’t have to guess.

PROSPECTIVE OUTSOURCING TIMELINES
While a reorder could take 2 weeks, we recommend allowing 5–6 weeks for any new outsourced project. This buffer helps avoid surprises and ensures quality. Typical timeline breakdown:

1–2 weeks – Design & Revisions

2–3 weeks – Vendor Production

2–5 days – Quality Checks & Delivery

Planning ahead ensures your materials are ready to impress when it matters most.

Need help or have a question, we’re happy to help guide you through the process

DIGITAL

Our digital tools—website, social media, email, and texting—are designed to effectively share your message with the right audience at the right time. We strategically use each platform to serve distinct purposes: the website acts as a central hub for both congregants and newcomers, social media is focused on attracting, engaging, and nurturing our community, the Church Center app empowers active congregants with easy access to key resources, and email/texting provide targeted communication for timely updates.

We’ll work with you to place each message where it will have the greatest impact, ensuring clear and effective communication across all channels

Social Media

Social media is a powerful tool to connect with the heart of our community. Our primary goal here is to attract, engage, and nurture by creating a space that reflects the life, values, and vibrancy of Discovery.

To stay aligned with our strategy, we use the global church calendar to inform our Content Calendar, ensuring that key initiatives are prioritized while maintaining a balanced and intentional presence. Our content is thoughtfully planned to attract new followers, engage existing ones, and nurture a deeper connection with our church family.

Currently, we maintain a main Discovery Church account, along with dedicated accounts for Students and Young Adults. These platforms serve our priority audience—the “Rooted family.” While we do not manage separate accounts for each campus and ministry at this time, we are committed to partnering with ministries to share their message effectively through our existing platforms.

Website

Our website serves two main audiences: current congregants and newcomers. It’s designed to be clear, helpful, and easy to navigate, so visitors can quickly find what they need.

Key content is prioritized on the homepage, with ministry-specific information easily accessible through dedicated pages. Events are listed on the Events page and in the upcoming events sections on relevant ministry pages. The homepage features a Highlighted Events section, showcasing global events and key initiatives like LET’S GO, Resurrection Day, and the Gathering, ensuring the church stays aligned on important moments.

For our multi-campus structure, each location has a dedicated space on the site, where attendees can find location-specific details, register for DC Kids, and stay connected with their campus.

Church Center App

The Church Center app is a vital tool for engaged congregants. It offers quick access to key next steps, like event sign-ups, group participation, giving, and Sunday resources—without the clutter. Navigation is simple, with streamlined shortcuts, a rotating “Today’s Resource” feature, and a 60-day event calendar.

The app serves as our primary alternative when “Vision Cast” stage announcements reach their capacity limit. It’s an excellent way to empower congregants to stay connected and informed. If you have ideas for app content, we’re open to collaborating to ensure the experience remains clear, engaging, and effective.

QR Codes

QR codes can be helpful when used with intention. While our priority is to guide people toward the Church Center App, QR codes are useful for new guests unfamiliar with the app or when linking to external sites. To keep our communication clear and uncluttered, we avoid overusing them and evaluate each use case carefully. We’re happy to work with ministries to decide when a QR code is the best tool for the job.

NAMING & TITLING

Clear, intentional naming helps people quickly understand what something is and who it’s for. The Communications Team partners with ministries to develop names and titles that align with Discovery’s brand and make it easy for people to engage.

Clarity Over Cleverness

We prioritize simple, literal names that communicate purpose — like Student Ministry or Men’s Ministry. Abstract or overly creative titles can create confusion, especially for newcomers. When in doubt, go with clear and direct.

Think About the Audience

Always consider who you’re speaking to. Whether your content is for the full church, guests, volunteers, or a specific group, the name should clearly reflect that. Audience-focused naming avoids confusion and helps people quickly find what they need.

PHOTOGRAPHY DIRECTION

Strong photography helps tell the story of Discovery Church—real people following Jesus through every season. We aim to capture authentic, high-quality images that reflect the heart of our community.

Our focus isn’t perfection—it’s truth. Every image is chosen and edited with care to align with our brand and communicate clearly across social media, print, web, and event galleries.

For consistency and excellence, we have chosen not to distribute raw photos. Ministries are encouraged to use their own images in emails or newsletters, following the same guidelines used by our Communications Team to the best of your ability. If someone in your ministry is helping with photography, please, connect with us. We love to train volunteers in Discovery’s visual direction!

IMPORTANT NOTE: We avoid stock photos whenever possible. Instead, we use real faces from our church so that people can see and connect with their own community—both online and in print.

VIDEO STRATEGY

Video is one of the most powerful ways we tell stories at Discovery. Whether produced in-house or through our video partner, Actify, every piece should feel warm, real, and inviting—reflecting the culture and values that shape our community.

We use video to highlight the vibrancy of Discovery and connect with our key audience: Rooted Families. Through authentic testimonies, engaging teaching, and moments of genuine community, our content helps people take meaningful next steps as disciples of Jesus.

Our philosophy and strategy shape every project—whether it’s a Sunday service, a story-driven piece from Actify, or a short-form video for social, web, or events. Across every format, we aim for content that is high-quality, approachable, and accessible—meeting people where they are, online and in person.

THEMED EXPERIENCES

At Discovery, experiences go beyond decoration—they create immersive environments that invite people in and reflect the heart of the message. Whether it’s Resurrection Day, Christmas, or a key sermon series, we design spaces that spark connection and celebration.

Every experience should feel intentional and mission-aligned—creating space for people to connect and encounter Jesus in fresh, meaningful ways.

Design Principles

  • Immersive & Engaging – Photo ops, storytelling elements, and interactive touches help people feel part of the moment.
  • Consistent & On-Brand – Visuals reflect our identity through unified colors, textures, and design.
  • Scalable & Strategic – Big moments (like Christmas) may include full lobby takeovers, while smaller activations (like Baptism or a sermon series) use focused, high-impact pieces across all campuses.
Kids Camp 2024

Other Key Elements

  • Photo Opportunities – Designed for shareability and long-term visual impact.
  • Lobby Installations – Thematic decor sets the tone and strengthens the moment.
  • Interactive Touchpoints – Signage, prompts, or creative moments that invite engagement.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Our environments should feel like Discovery—warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. We blend timeless style with modern sensibility, using natural textures like wood, stone, and concrete to create spaces that feel grounded, inviting, and purposeful.

Every space should reflect who we are and why we gather—creating room for people to connect, grow, and encounter Jesus.

Design Principles

  • Neutral Foundation – Grey is our base, offering a clean, adaptable canvas.
  • Natural Textures – Wood brings warmth, stone adds depth, and concrete lends a modern edge.
  • Modern + Mid-Century Touches – Clean lines and minimal ornamentation keep spaces stylish and functional.
  • Subtle Brand Accents – Deep blues, warm neutrals, and intentional pops of color appear in signage, upholstery, and decor to reinforce identity.
  • Thoughtful Lighting – A balance of natural light, warm LEDs, and statement fixtures sets the tone.
